The sonic drilling tool sends high-frequency resonant vibrations through the drill string to the bit. These frequencies (between 50 and 120 hertz, cycles per second) are controlled by an operator to suit the specific conditions of soil or rock geology. The vibrations can also be generated within the drill head. You can expand the amplitude of the auger through resonance, which fluidizes the soil particles in the face of the bit allowing faster and easier penetration in most geological formations. An inner spring insulates these vibratory forces from the rest of the auger. TDS supplies all required equipment for sonic drilling rigs and tools to improve your operational time and costs.
Sonic drill pipe is a pipe with a bigger wall than traditional with specials threads to handle the induced frequencies through vibration. Thread sizes from 3.5 to 6 5/8” are available through TD. We have also the best pipe clamps on the market to protect your drilling sonic rig. We have the ability and knowledge to design any customized tool for this application.
Standard and customized sonic drill bits can be provided by TDS and are manufactured from premium quality materials. Correct sonic bit design will help you to improve your drilling parameters and reduce your operational times and fail possibilities.
